Exploring Seattle, Snohomish, and the Sound 🌲🏙️🏔️
Join me on an adventure in the Pacific Northwest.
Hello, fellow travelers, coffee lovers, and foodies!
Today, I’m excited to share my recent trip report from the beautiful state of Washington. So, pack your appetite, hiking shoes, and paddle. Let’s go!
Seattle - The Emerald City
Seattle, the Emerald City, is a gem among the many evergreen trees that remain green and beautiful all year. Our Airbnb, nestled in Ballard, a vibrant waterfront neighborhood, was the perfect launchpad to explore the colorful street murals, a rich seafaring and Scandinavian heritage, and some of the city’s hippest food and fun.
For the foodies, I recommend a few tasty restaurants including the Matador (Mexican), The Walrus and the Carpenter (Seafood), and Bizzarro Italian Cafe nearby in Wallingford.
If you love chocolate, you must check out the molten chocolate cake at Hot Cakes, These deeply chocolatey, warm, gooey in the middle, and cakey on the outside treats are not to be missed!
With so much delicious food, it’s important to stay active. My favorite exercise activities include hiking🥾, paddling🚣, and exploring🔍.
It’s a great day when I can meet up with good friends for coffee and walk around Green Lake near the Woodland Park Zoo. I also had an awesome paddle on Union Lake which offers stunning views of the city skyline and met some fowl friends.
Later, we walked around the University of Washington campus and waterfront with a group of gleaners. Our thirst for knowledge led us to the Burke Museum, where we came face-to-face with a T-Rex. The museum houses a vast collection of natural and cultural artifacts, making it a must-visit for history and science enthusiasts.
Snohomish - The Antique Capital of the Northwest
Snohomish, named for the Snohomish people, a Coast Salish tribe, is nestled between the waters of Puget Sound and the Cascade Mountains with 145 named mountains in the area.
The river walk provides stunning views of the snowcapped mountains. After a delicious lunch at Snohomish Bakery at First & Union, we visited Lamb & Company, where sisters Leslie and Lyndsay have a store across from the bakery and are known for helping desperate homeowners sell unsellable houses, and the many antique stores downtown.
Pikes Market and The Puget Sound 🌊
No trip to Seattle would be complete without a visit to Pike’s Market for fresh flowers, seafood, and claw chowder!
If possible, take a ferry trip on the Puget Sound and explore the nearby Bainbridge and Bremerton island communities. You can ride the Seattle to Bainbridge ferry, by foot or drive-on. If you have the extra time, continue your journey west and explore the Olympic National Park (one of my favorites).🌲
Until our next adventure, keep eating, enjoying, and exploring!
