A Journey to San Francisco: Beauty, Gratitude, and Celebration 🌉 🚋 ⚾
I explore San Francisco, celebrate, and find inspiration in the City by the Bay
Hello friends, travelers, and adventurers,
I'm excited to share my latest journey to beautiful San Francisco to spend time with family. I am filled with gratitude and a renewed sense of optimism.
My family moved to California over fifty years ago when I was ten. It was an incredible time in my life as a child ready for freedom and adventure. I swam in the Pacific Ocean, took a ferry across the Bay to Sausalito, and explored the Muir Woods.
I've lived in the San Francisco Bay Area longer than anywhere else, including Denver where I was born, Los Angeles where I left home to attend college, Philadelphia for grad school, and Oregon.
I have magical memories from the City by the Bay: taking BART to San Francisco Embarcadero Square and riding my skateboard, hanging on to the outside of a cable car, exploring Chinatown during the Chinese New Year with dragons in the parade and fireworks in the streets, savoring chocolates at Ghirardelli Square, and admiring the iconic Painted Ladies Houses of San Francisco.

The Beauty of San Francisco
Are you ready to explore the beautiful San Francisco?
Start your journey with the breathtaking Golden Gate Bridge, then dive into the buzz of Fisherman's Wharf with fresh seafood and chowder. Lose yourself in Golden Gate Park, with its lush greenery, botanical gardens, and peaceful lakes, offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. Ride the historic cable cars up and down the hills, and immerse yourself in Chinatown's sounds, smells, and sights. Don’t forget to take your selfie photo at Lombard Street, shop till you drop in Union Square, and enjoy the views from Coit Tower. And, of course, indulge your sweet tooth at Ghirardelli Square. With its serene atmosphere and scenic trails, the Presidio is a sanctuary of calm and beauty, nestled within the city.
The City by the Bay, captured by Journey in Lights will always hold a special place in my heart.
Are you hungry?
San Francisco’s food scene is incredible. From five-star dining to hot dogs and garlic fries at the Giants Game. Check out the Ferry Building Marketplace, you can indulge in fresh seafood, artisanal cheeses, and delicious baked specialties. Chinatown offers a culinary adventure with its delicious dim sum and authentic Chinese cuisine. Don’t forget to stop by Ghirardelli Square for a sweet treat of world-famous chocolates.
Are you ready for action?
I remember watching the San Francisco 49ers play at Candlestick Park and paddling my kayak to Covey Cove to cheer for the Giants to win the World Series.
San Francisco has activities for everyone. Sports fans can catch a Warriors basketball game or a Giants game at Oracle Park, with its stunning bay views. Art lovers can explore SFMOMA and immerse themselves in world-class exhibits. Music and theater fans will enjoy venues like SF Jazz, the War Memorial Opera House, and the Fillmore. Adventurers can bike across the Golden Gate Bridge or hike in the Marin Headlands for exhilarating experiences with unforgettable views.

Gratitude and Celebration
This trip is filled with gratitude and an opportunity to celebrate with my son, who is now living in San Francisco and beginning his legal career after passing the California Bar.
I am looking forward to more visits to San Francisco and the beautiful state of California, which offers so much hope, innovation, and potential during this moment of change.

My favorite city in the world!
You are in my neck of the woods until I moved to the PNW as an adult. I know every stop you mention. Of course, Journey, the hit band of my youth. I still love them. Thanks for the memory lane visit today.
