They were all part of our unforgettable road trip to Bend Oregon! We stumbled upon an Airbnb gem that was not just a place to stay, but a great deal with a treasure trove of fun and games. From challenging each other in ping pong and pool to chasing high scores in Pac-Man, tickling the ivories on a piano, and even playing darts, we had a blast.
And let’s not forget the thrilling football games we watched together! But what’s a road trip without delectable food? Just a short walk away, we discovered fantastic restaurants and a variety of delicious, complimentary treats – from savory pizzas to sweet pies and pastries.
Journey Around Mt Hood to Central Oregon
It is an easy 3-hour drive from Portland to Bend, traversing the picturesque Mt Hood and venturing into the heart of Oregon’s high desert. The landscape transforms around us, from the snowy Mt Hood and the dense forest, a stark contrast to the arid plains ahead. As we journey further, the lush greenery gives way to the stark beauty of the high desert within the Warm Springs Reservation. To the east, the majestic Smith Rock stands tall, and to the west lies the quaint town of Sisters.

Nestled in the heart of Oregon, the town of Sisters offers a breathtaking view of the Three Sisters mountains. These majestic peaks stand as silent sentinels, their snow-capped summits painting a picturesque backdrop for the town’s rustic charm. Blockbuster Bend Attractions
Bend is an awesome, all-season wonderland, offering many things to do, see, and explore all year round. Our fall visit was perfectly timed—after the summer’s thrill of river rafting and mountain climbing, and just before winter’s arrival draped the landscape in a snowy blanket for skiing.
Perched in Northwest Bend, our Airbnb rental was a window to spectacular vistas and a gateway to the great outdoors. A mere stone’s throw away, we found ourselves amidst restaurants, hiking trails, mountain biking routes, the verdant expanses of parks like Mount Bachelor, and the meandering Deschutes River.
Beyond the vast array of activities—including dining at eclectic food trucks, shopping for treasures, and trekking through nature—stands the iconic last Blockbuster video store. A nostalgic trip down memory lane, this Blockbuster is a living relic and a testament to the era of VHS and DVD rentals, with Bend’s Blockbuster being the sole survivor that preserves a unique piece of video rental history.

Bend is a winter wonderland that offers a delightful mix of snowy escapades and cozy urban charm.
It is the perfect destination for skiing and enjoying the snow during the winter holidays. ⛷️❄️
For the more adventurous, the rivers and Smith Rock provide opportunities for hiking and mountain climbing. 🧗♀️🏞️

A baby beaver, named Beavie, embarked on an unlikely journey to the High Desert Museum in Bend. Rescued from a coffee shop drive-thru, Beavie received dedicated care, growing from 1 pound to a robust 18 pounds. Not yet on public display, Beavie is set to become an educational ambassador, teaching visitors about the crucial role beavers play in ecosystems. 🦫
