Summer Solstice, World Music Day, and Family ☀️🎶❤️
Let’s celebrate summer’s warmth, music, and family times together.
Hello, summer sunset chasers, music lovers, and growing families,
Why do I love the start of summer?
The days grow longer. It’s warm but not too hot. Oregon’s rain becomes less frequent, often arriving overnight to nourish my garden, where mornings begin with coffee and evenings are spent grilling and playing with our rescue dog, Wilbur.
Why I Love Summer in Oregon ☀️🍉🍔
Summer begins with the solstice, the longest day of the year, when the sun warms later and stays longer. The golden hours are the best from six to eight, or here in the Pacific Northwest, the sun hangs around past 9:00 p.m.
It’s the perfect season for barbeque dinners in the backyard, paddling in the lake, picnics by the river, or sunset by the coast.

Celebrating World Music Day 🎼🎷🎸
I love how adding music makes summer extra special.
The way 70s rock and roll feels while I’m grilling, the scent of barbecue mixing with Tom Petty's 'Running Down a Dream' lyrics captures the energy, the feeling of cruising with the windows down, chasing a dream.
“It was a beautiful day, the sun beat down / I had the radio on, I was drivin’”
Or, listening to Mozart at a concert in the park by the Willamette River.
Perhaps, R&B, blues, or jazz at sunset, like when the saxophone, trombone, and trumpet blend perfectly on a summer evening with Thee Sacred Souls.
World Music Day invites us to celebrate music, bring people together, and connect to the season and the journey ahead.
Celebrating Life ☀️🎶👶
Summer is a time for the outdoors, music, and family celebrations. This year is extra special as I welcome my first grandchild. Like the changing seasons, life surprises in beautiful ways, reminding me to enjoy every precious moment.
Summer is here!
So, let’s celebrate the light, the music, and the season.
What songs define summer for you? How do you celebrate with family, friends, pets, and music in the summer sun?
Hi! Love seeing Wilbur! 🐾
