EARTH DAY 2025: OUR POWER, OUR PLANET πππ±
SPECIAL EDITION: This Earth Day, I celebrate people power, our planet, and the urgent action needed to save it.
Hello, Earth lovers, trail hikers, and change makers,
Some days, the world feels broken. Storms hit harder. Wildfires rage longer. The news scrolls faster, overflowing with chaos, climate disasters, and political dysfunction so deep it threatens the very systems meant to protect us.
But hereβs what I believe.
We are powerful.
In the face of climate collapse and political paralysis, itβs easy to feel small. But we, the people, are the ones who bring the energy, the heart, the courage. Weβre the ones who keep showing up, lifting each other, and taking action, even when the odds are stacked against us.
This Earth Day, Iβll celebrate the way I know best, walking through the forest to the lake and down to the Willamette River in Oregon. Iβll breathe in the rich Pacific Northwest air, listen to birds singing above, and practice gratitude.

My Earth Day: Oregon Forests, Rivers, and Action π²ππ’
But Iβll also take action.
As a writer, Iβll share why this Earth is precious and why we must protect it. Iβll speak out, connect with others, and tell the stories that move people to care.
As a local outings leader, Iβll lead a hike through the forest and down to the river. Weβll breathe in the fresh Pacific Northwest air, share stories, and encourage each other to take action.
As an organizer, Iβll invite our community to protect the planet we call home and remember that weβre stronger together.
Because defending this planet isnβt just about policies or protests. Itβs about the trails that root us, the people who walk beside us, and the future we build together, one step at a time.
Why Earth Day Still Matters
In 1970, millions of everyday peopleβstudents, teachers, farmers, and factory workersβstepped outside their routines and into the streets to demand a future that respected the Earth. That first Earth Day sparked the creation of the EPA and key environmental protections we still rely on today. It showed us whatβs possible when we move together with purpose.
Now, 55 years later, we find ourselves again at a dangerous tipping point. Climate chaos is accelerating. Democracy and our environment are under attack. And yet, people, just like in 1970, are rising up again.
But this is also a moment of possibility. This Earth Day, we reclaim the spirit of 1970 and rise again, not with despair, but with determination.
Our Power, Our Planet π£οΈποΈπ¦
The theme for Earth Day 2025 is simple and bold: Our Power, Our Planet.
In a divided country and a digital-first world, a real community can feel hard to find. We scroll, we post, but weβre more disconnected than ever. Add to that wildfires, floods, political inaction, and itβs no wonder so many people feel hopeless.
Earth Day gives us a chance to reconnect to each other, to nature, and to something bigger than ourselves.
Most people care deeply. About wildlife and clean air. About water, trees, and what kind of world weβre leaving behind. And that feeling? Itβs powerful.
Letβs take action and flip the script:
From burnout to action.
From isolation to connection.
From despair to hope.
