Now is the Time π³οΈπ’πΊπΈ
Optimism alone is not enough. Now is the time to take action in the upcoming November 5, 2024 General Election. Everything we love is on the line.π½πͺ π₯
Hello dreamers, dedicated voters, and defenders of democracy,
This week, I cast my vote.
I researched the candidates and issues, and voted up and down the ballot. It feels good, but it isn't enough. One vote against the looming threat to our democracy feels like bringing a water gun to a wildfire.
This isn't a time for blind optimism; it's a time for action.
From today until November 5th, we must do everything in our power to defeat Trump and protect democracy.

The Stakes Couldnβt Be Higher
From local school board decisions to national policies affecting healthcare, the environment, and social justice, every vote matters. Itβs not just a right; itβs a responsibility. Voting is how we hold our leaders accountable and how we ensure our voices are heard.
Do you need another reason why we must defeat Trump?
Professor Robert Reichβs chilling article, "10 Worst Things About The Trump Presidency," (which quickly escalated to 75!) serves as a stark reminder of what's at stake. His words are burned into my memoryβthe shattered economy, the erosion of environmental protections, the inhumane treatment of immigrants, the endless lies. Most terrifyingly, he exposed Trump's assault on democracy itself, culminating in the January 6th insurrection.
You can also watch his video here too.
Because we sure as hell canβt afford to put him back there.
Optimism Alone is Not Enough
Remember the lessons of Ted Lasso and Tim Walzβthe power of community, of showing up, of fighting for what's right, even when the odds are stacked against us.
In my past articles Lasso, Walz, and Carpenter and United We Stand, Divided We Fall, I shared why I believe we must stand together and support a positive path for good.
We cannot afford to be complacent. This isn't just another election; it's a decisive moment for our values, our freedoms, and our future.
My experience as a Bernie delegate in 2016, chronicled in My Journey with Bernie, taught me that disappointment cannot lead to apathy. It must fuel us to fight harder, to organize more effectively, to engage every single person in our lives.
This is the GO! moment I emphasized in READY, SET, GO! Playbook for Campaigns, Candidates, and Causes.

Your Call to Action
First, be sure to voteβthe earlier the better so that campaigns will save resources.
Second, continue to talk with people you knowβneighbors, friends, colleagues, family, and online. Listen first, then share your story about why this election is so important.
Third, volunteer. If you live in a battleground stakeβArizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Nebraska, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsinβvolunteer for the campaign. If you do not, volunteer to make phone calls, write letters to the editor and postcards, travel on journeys to help, and volunteer at your local polling center.
Friends, we are at a crossroads. The time for sitting on the sidelines is over.
On November 5th, let our voices rise above the noise; let our votes drown out the hate; let our actions safeguard the future of our democracy.

Hi Kacey,
Thanks for the inspiration. Democracy is not a spectator sport and as Bernie always said: "It's not me, it's us."
